One of my 2021 revolutions is to read more book. In this new year, I aim to read at least 52 books throughout the whole year, which equals to one book per week. And for the first week, I chose ''Think like a monk'' written by Jay Shetty.
Jay Shetty is well-known worldwide as a former monk. He spent more than three years in an ashram in India to learn how to be a monk. In this book, he shares with us his journey of learning to be a monk as well as the values we will get with a monk mindset. To be honest, I found myself so lucky and grateful that ''Think like a monk'' was my first book to start 2021.

In the beginning, I planned to read the book within a week. However, it was impossible and in the end it took me almost 7 weeks to complete it. Why? To understand the book and gain the highest value of it, I must apply and complete the tasks that Jay guides us throughout the book. Those tasks help me to clarify my thinking and concentrate on what truly matter.
The chapter which gave me the most shock was ''Chapter 3: FEAR''. It has been a long time that I have the anxiety and broken down deeply at least one time a year and it lasts for more than a month. I always have this fear of loneliness, but during that time, it will be the peak for me. I could cry and get super emotional in a variety of situations. I always feel that everyone leaves me and does not care about my existence. It gives me so much trouble that I start getting physical harms because of the mental issue like fatigue, sickness and speedy heart race. I tried so many times to understand the root of the problem. I just got to know that I have a problem and I need to deal with it. Reading the ''Fear'' chapter was a huge step for me to discover the deepest and darkest corner of my mind. By asking questions, Jay helps readers to dig into our childhood and our memories. I was exploded and cried so much, but it was the tear of relief. The fear I discovered just explains all the set of thinking I have, all the behavior, all the perception and pains. It just explains everything.

Additionally, in this book Jay also guides you to the journey of seeking mindfulness and peace by explaining different styles of meditation, which I also want to apply and practice daily in 2021. Therefore, this book benefits me significantly in so many ways.
From the beginning of the year until now, my habit and routine have been changed completely. I feel more fulfilled and happy with myself. I do not have anymore the fear of loneliness. I treasure my time, others' time and be way more productive. The book gives me such a powerful energy to start a new year, and I am so excited for whatever coming.
Each person will surely have different journeys with the book depends on the reading purpose, level of dedication and application. So if you certainly want to have a peaceful and mindful life, the book is definitely for you. If you feel that you are not ready to change, you can take your time and check the book later on.
